My main motivation to stay active: My Fitbit Charge HR

Let’s start at the beginning. I’ve always been the kind of person that gets super excited about new things, but after doing them for a while I get sick of them. Especially in sports. Every since I started my ‘healthy’ journey, I’ve been having ups and downs. Last year when I was training for my first half marathon, I really got into running, but after the race I took a break. I was planning on taking a break for 2 weeks, but 2 weeks turned into 2 months and before I knew it, the fit body I worked so hard for turned back into the body I had before I started running.

In June last year I got a Fitbit Zip and I fell in love the moment I got it. I’ve always liked technology and keeping lists and stats of what I do, so thanks to this little device that you just put in your pocket and the (free) Fitbit app I could keep track of my activity.  Continue reading

Maty’s Healthy Products

Maty's Health Products (2 of 9)

Today’s post is dedicated to some of the Maty’s Healthy Products that I love to use for both Slaiden and myself. I tested out 3 products. My favorite one was the baby chest rub, which was basically the same thing as the All Natural Vapor Rub that I use for myself. Slaiden loves our little ritual of putting the cream on his chest and he loves doing it himself. I’m sure it feels good too, because he comes to me several times a day with the little box in his hands and wants me to open it so he can put on some more. I love how careful he is with it! He just puts a tiny bit of cream on his little finger and then kinda dips it on his skin. Very cute.

Workout essentials: My go-to gym bag and the coolest capris

Gym bag - Onzie-4

Today I want to talk about the Gaiam Metro Gym Bag that I’m  not only using as a gym bag, but also as a diaper bag, hand bag and everyday bag. I had been looking for a good gym bag for a while, but I always found something that I didn’t like about the bags that I had before. This one is literally everything I need. It has 2 inside pockets so you can organise everything in there. There is a key holder which I also use to put my gym lock on, it has an outside pocket on the 4 sides and you can close those with magnetic buttons which is great. There is plenty of space inside to store your water, towel, weight training journal, vitamins and wallet and it’s just the most comfortable bag. I like both wearing it over my shoulders and in my hands. The color is pretty neutral too and it’s a nice fit with almost all of the workout clothes I own.  Another great thing about this bag is that it has straps on the bottom for your yoga or fitness mat. Cupcakes are my guilty pleasure as many of you know already. My absolutely favorite ones are the ones from Susie Cakes, but I’m always open to try out new places. Bottega Louie was on my list of places to go to when I was going to visit Downtown LA. I’d seen so many Instagram posts about this place that I wanted to go check it out for myself.  Continue reading

Health essentials: Maty’s Healthy Products

DSC_1080

A little while ago, I decided for myself that I would start living a healthier lifestyle. Every since starting school, I have a pretty busy schedule. I take care of the baby during the day, rush to school in the nights, make sure I follow my running schedule 5 days a week and do homework whenever I find the time. When everything feels like a rush in your life (Don’t understand me wrong, I love the life I’m living and I chose to be so busy!), a good night of sleep is extremely important.

I have always been a bad sleeper. I used to barely need any sleep. I was ok with sleeping 6 hours a night, but after I got mono/Pfeiffer’s disease about 6 years ago, I started needing much more sleep, which was a hard thing for me. The amount of hours you sleep is part of your lifestyle and suddenly I had 2 hours less to be productive during the day.  Continue reading
