Training for #werunsf

In 5 weeks I’m running the Nike Women’s Half Marathon in San Francisco and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Ever since I heart about this race I’ve been wanting to actually run it. The last 2 editions I would sit behind my phone on race days and check out the hashtags of the race so I could see how everything looked and which price the winners would get. 

This year I actually am running it myself, in a city that I barely know. I’ve visited a little part of the city during our road trip but since we didn’t have that much time to explore there and since I was gonna be back in the city in October, that was fine. I’m gonna go up the Friday before the race and stay there for the weekend, so I’ll have plenty of time to see everything I want to see.

Last time I was training for a half marathon I probably started training intensively about 4 months before the race and that was too much for me. My body was just too tired by the time I had to run the 13 miles, and also I started experiencing pain everywhere at all times. After the race I took a break and solely put all my energy in weight training, which I liked cause my arms got to be a little more toned. I built up some strength and I have no more fat slobbering around when I’m walking, so that’s definitely something I’m very happy about.

The long runs stopped and that made me gain some weight. You see, I’m not a person that can eat whatever she wants without doing a certain amount of cardio each week. This week I started training again and I feel like it didn’t take too much efforts to do so. I used to love running on the treadmill but I feel like I’m over that. For some reason it doesn’t make me feel as good as running by the beach. It must be those views that keep me going!😉

Anyways, yesterday I was going for a 7 mile run, but ended up doing 8 instead and chose to do some uphill streets too instead of the usual flat circuit that I’m always doing. San Francisco has lots of hills and even though I don’t know how I’m ever going to make it, I figured it would be good to incorporate some hills in my runs from now on.

PS: I’m so thrilled with my new Canon 6D. The pictures and colors come out perfectly! I barely have do any touch-ups on my pictures anymore and I didn’t edit this picture at all!
